This week Dread Air honors the great DJ U-Roy who turned 77 this past Saturday September 21! You’ll also hear Aswad, Dennis Bovell, Bullwackies All Stars, Mikey Dread, Junior Murvin, The Twinkle Brothers, The Upsetters and to kick things off, Barrington Levy with "Robin Hood,” ’course !
A journey through Jamaican music from the 1950s up until now: from mento, ska, and rocksteady, through all styles of reggae: roots, rockers, steppers, and dubs, DJ cuts, nyabinghi, rubadubwise and otherwise – and into the dancehall era, ’course. We feature new releases of dancehall artists as well as the best reissues of classic and unreleased roots reggae, and tune in for special guest selectors and deejays, as I would say.
