Show Notes

This week Dread Air honors the “Rhythm Master,” reggae producer Glen Brown who sadly passed away this past Friday, October 4 at the age of 75. Also calling himself “God Son,” Brown created some of the heaviest and greatest reggae tunes and “riddims” including “Dirty Harry” with which we open the show, and “Save Our Nation,” which a few years later became “Lamb’s Bread” an ode to ganja by the roots singer Sylford Walker, and its companion dancehall DJ cut by Welton Irie.

He cut hundreds of tunes with many others, including singers Gregory Isaacs, Lloyd Parks, Wayne Jarrett, Glenroy Richards, horn players Tommy McCook and (of course) Richard “Dirty Harry” Hall, and DJs Big Youth, Prince Jazzbo, I-Roy and U-Roy and host of other luminaries. Deep dub cuts and mixes by none other than King Tubby, of course, Brown’s preferred engineer. Rest in Peace and Rest in Power Glenmore Brown, 1944-2019.
